One Texas Longhorns four-star found himself shocked by Georgia from Saturday. But not because of the final score against Alabama.

This Class of 2027 recruit left Athens amazed by the crowd.

Taven Epps flew from Tustin, Ca., to the Peach State to check out the marquee Southeastern Conference showdown between the annual powers. The 6-foot-4, 222-pound linebacker remains a priority for Georgia despite his pledge to the Longhorns.

Texas 4-Star Commit Amazed by Georgia Crowd

Epps told Benjamin Wolk of 247Sports what he thought of the Sanford Stadium crowd.

"For the football part, the crowd. That was my favorite part. I've never seen a crowd that loud before," Epps said to Wolk. "The atmosphere was pretty big, and I liked it a lot. I had a lot of fun. It was loud."

Linebacker coach Glenn Schumann and quality control coordinator Bryson Allen-Williams are leading the charge to flip Epps from the Longhorns.

The current junior verbally committed to Texas in April of 2025 to shut his recruitment down early. Co-defensive coordinator Johnny Nansen won over Epps early in coaxing him to chose the 'Horns.

But other powers are lurking -- even outside of Georgia.

Other Powers Courting Texas 4-Star

Epps is the nation's fifth-best LB for his class per 247Sports. And he's very much a priority for other power conference teams.

Wolk adds the following schools are still in the hunt for the long defender: Alabama, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Notre Dame.

Epps himself is planning to check out each campus all while remaining committed to Texas.

Greg Biggins of 247Sports compared Epps to Green Bay Packers linebacker Isaiah Simmons -- a past top 10 NFL Draft pick from the 2020 class.

Georgia sits at four commits for the '27 cycle, including two from Epps' home state. Donte Wright of Long Beach Poly and Gavin Honore of Mater Dei are two who chose the Bulldogs.
