The 2025 Miami Dolphins Season is Upon Us

Soon, we will begin the 2025 NFL football season on Thursday, September 4th, with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Dallas Cowboys.

The Miami Dolphins begin their season on September 7th against the Indianapolis Colts.

Despite the many predictions regarding the fate of the 2025 Dolphins team, none of which are positive, I remain a loyal fan.

On September 7th, long before the 1 pm kickoff, I predict Miami Dolphins fans all over the world will be tuning in to cheer on their team.

I have read and written about the expectations for this 2025 Dolphins roster throughout this offseason.

Most of the NFL expect the Dolphins to be a mediocre team in 2025 and finish anywhere from second place to last in the AFC East.

I don’t necessarily disagree.

Yet, as true football fans, we look forward to this time of the year with anticipation that rivals a child on a Christmas morning.

And the anticipation of seeing the players from our favorite team compete in what we consider the best sport in the world.

So, for me and most Dolphins fans, on September 7th, we will be watching our team play, cheer, and suffer through every play.
I predicted a 2025 season record of seven wins and eleven losses.

Do I want that to be true? Of course not.

Would I prefer that the reality of what we have witnessed since the end of the 2024 season be different?

Would I prefer to honestly believe that the 2025 team can compete for the playoffs and even win a game in the postseason?

Of course I do.

So, with the season just a few days away, I hope against reality, and the NFL pundits, as well as my own gut feeling, that the Miami Dolphins will surprise the doubters and make 2025 a special season to remember.

Why can’t the following happen in 2025?

Tua Tagovailoa stays healthy.

The Tua/Tyreek connection comes back to life, and Tyreek Hill breaks his own yardage record from 2023.

Jaylen Waddle returns to his 2023 form.

The running game comes alive thanks to future Pro Bowler De’Von Achane and a budding star in Ollie Gordon II.

The starting offensive line remains intact, providing a much-needed improvement over the 2024 season.

Our defensive front, led by Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, and Chop Robinson, each has ten sacks apiece.

Linebackers Jordyn Brooks, Tyrel Dodson, and Willie Gay Jr. have Pro Bowl-caliber years and flourish under defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver’s defensive scheme.

Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick elevates the defensive backfield’s play, and they compete even against the league’s top receivers.

And kicker Riley Patterson fills in for Jason Sanders well enough to keep us in games and win one with a field goal.

Are those expectations that may be considered unrealistic?

Certainly.

But that is what being an NFL fan is all about.
