Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt wasn't happy with his performance in the New York Giants' preseason finale on Thursday night.
Hyatt, who is entering his third season with the Giants, caught three of six targets for 38 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jameis Winston in a 42-10 win against the New England Patriots.

The former Vol had a couple of tough drops to go along with his touchdown reception.
“It felt good [to catch a TD]," said Hyatt. "Jameis threw a beautiful ball...kinda just disappointed in my performance. Felt like I could’ve made more plays out there."
"It wasn’t the [defensive backs] at all....both of them were beautiful [passes]. I've gotta come down with those," added Hyatt when asked about the drops. "I just have to correct some things. Attack the ball, things I know I can do.”

Hyatt, a third round selection by the Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, is fighting to secure a spot on the 53-man roster.
Despite an uneven performance in New York's win against New England, The Athletic's Dan Duggan believes Hyatt will make the Giants' 53-man roster.
In his latest roster projection for The Athletic, Duggan included Hyatt as one of six wide receivers on the Giants' 53-man roster.
"Hyatt twice missed time in camp with injuries, but he is healthy now," wrote Duggan. "His inconsistency was on display in Thursday’s finale, but it’s unlikely that the Giants will give up on the 2023 third-round pick."
Hyatt's had a tough start to his NFL career, but he's still only a couple of years removed from being the best wide receiver in the SEC. It certainly wouldn't be wise to write him off just yet.
