The Colts' incredible start to the year includes a crazy stat that completely embarrasses one of their AFC South rivals

The Indianapolis Colts are off to their best start to a season since 2009 at 3-0. Their most recent win was a dominant showing against one of their AFC South rivals as they put up over 40 points on the Tennessee Titans. Even though they haven't played anyone else in the AFC South, the Colts are still finding ways to embarrass their divisional rivals.

One of the most shocking starts to the season across the NFL is that the Houston Texans have yet to secure their first win. The Texans and Colts are off to very different starts to the season, with Houston at 0-3 and Indianapolis still undefeated at 3-0. Another area where the two have been opposites is the performance of each team's offense. A particularly striking statistic from the first three weeks really puts that into perspective for both teams.

Colts kicker Spencer Shrader has outscored the Texans this season

Indianapolis Colts kicker Spencer Shrader (3) kicks a field goal during the second quarter against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025.

The Texans have only scored 38 points through the first three weeks of the season, which means, on average, they are scoring just under 13 points a game. The team has scored 10 or fewer points in two of their three matchups this year, and their season high to date is only 19 points. The Colts have experienced something entirely different to start the year. They outscored the Texans on the season this past week alone by scoring 41 points against the Titans.

The Colts' lowest scoring total of the year surpassed the Texans' highest with them scoring 29 points in Week 2 against one of the top defenses in the NFL , the Denver Broncos. If you think all that is crazy, wait - there's an even crazier stat to share. The Colts have obviously outscored the Texans through three weeks, and it's not even close, frankly. The Colts have scored 103 points through three weeks, while the Texans have scored only 38. In fact, one player on the Colts, in particular, has outscored the Texans all by himself, kicker Spencer Shrader.

Shrader has made 10 of his 11 field goal attempts this season and is a perfect 10 for 10 on extra points. This brings his personal point total to 43 this season, five more than the Texans have altogether. CJ Stroud and the Texans' offense were viewed as one of the best in the NFL just two years ago following his rookie year. But things seem to continue getting worse for the Houston QB and the Texans' offense. On the other hand, the Colts, led by Daniel Jones, have objectively been one of the best offenses in the NFL to start the 2025 season.

NFL's top five highest scoring teams after three weeks

  1. Baltimore Ravens: 111 points
  2. Indianapolis Colts & Detroit Lions: 103 points
  3. Buffalo Bills: 102 points
  4. Seattle Seahawks: 88 points
  5. Minnesota Vikings: 81 points

The Colts' 103 points entering Week 4 were tied for the second most in the NFL, only trailing the Baltimore Ravens, who have scored 111 points. There are a few more stats that really show how incredible their offense has been playing, as well. Entering Week 4, the Colts had produced the second-most total offensive yards at 1,256, only trailing the Buffalo Bills' 1,260. They also had the fourth most passing yards with 796 and the third most rushing yards at 460. The group is truly firing on all cylinders.
