The Washington Commanders need to play with urgency on Sunday night and find a way to win a game that can save or end their season against the Seattle Seahawks.
They already started with the unfortunate news that wide receiver Terry McLaurin reinjured his quad and will be out for Week 9, with no timetable for a return. The good news, however, is that franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels looks to be back from his own injury if all goes well this week. Replacing McLaurin isn't possible, though, and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury acknowledged it.
“Yeah, I don't think you can account for a player like that," Kingsbury said. "Obviously, it's hard to step in and fill those shoes, but collectively, just more consistency, week in, week out. I think guys have made plays at times and stepped up when asked, but I just think overall as a group we have to be more consistent and the margin for error gets smaller and smaller when, you know, Terry's not out there.”

There are other injuries worth monitoring, including star left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who suffered a hamstring injury against the Kansas City Chiefs. These kinds of injuries usually linger and need a week or so to recover from, but Tunsil was at practice on Thursday as a limited participant, which means he could play Sunday night.

"I think the last couple of games he's [Newton] played really well," Whitt Jr. said. "Last game, he got hurt, and so he was in and out because he was hurt. But he was playing fast and explosive and throwing hands, and I'm hoping that he's available this week, because he's been trending in the right direction. So, the numbers, sometimes it's because of personnel group or packaging, but he's been playing well.”
