The draft needs for all 32 NFL teams

Heading into the offseason, all 32 teams have clear needs to address both in the free-agent market and the draft. Here's a look at the biggest draft needs for all 32 NFL organizations.

.

1 of 32

Arizona Cardinals: OL, RB, WR, CB

Arizona addressed the offensive line last year, but still has work to do at guard. They also have to answer for pending free agents at running back (Chase Edmonds and James Conner) and wideout (Christian Kirk and A.J. Green). The team got by at cornerback despite Malcolm Butler's surprising retirement last preseason but desperately needs to add depth to the position.

Atlanta Falcons: QB, RB, WR, DL, LB, DB

Atlanta continues to dig out of salary cap purgatory and enter a huge offseason for the front office with several big decisions to make. Possible trades of Matt Ryan and Calvin Ridley will determine the team's direction and their ultimate needs, but some developmental prospects at those positions would be helpful either way. The team also must decide what to do at running back, and the defense remains weak in overall talent.

Baltimore Ravens: OL, DL, S

Baltimore's depth was tested last season after an incredible number of injuries, and there could be some major changes on the way as the team tries to rebuild its offensive line and install a new defense under coordinator Mike MacDonald. The team at least needs to do something about center and right tackle, and the front seven is set to take some huge losses in free agency, including Calais Campbell and Justin Houston. Even if those veterans are retained, it's clearly time to add new, young projects. As is seemingly the case every offseason, the Ravens also need help at safety.

Buffalo Bills: OL, DL, CB, WR

Buffalo Bills: OL, DL, CB, WR

The Bills might have been the best team in the NFL during 2021, but they suffered a crushing playoff defeat in KC. The team remains one of the favorites next season and doesn't have any glaring deficiencies. They could use help at left guard and might need to replace veteran defensive linemen like Jerry Hughes and Harrison Phillips. The cornerback depth was exposed with Tre'Davious Whtie's knee injury, and wide receiver depth is also on the agenda with Emmanuel Sanders' pending free agency.

5 of 32

Carolina Panthers: QB, OL, LB, DB

Carolina Panthers: QB, OL, LB, DB

The Panthers entered a mini rebuild in 2020 when Matt Rhule was hired, but it's not clear they are better off now. Quarterback remains a position of desperate need, and the offensive line also needs help at several spots. The defense has young players to build around, but it won't be easy to replace the likes of Haason Reddick, Donte Jackson, and Stephon Gilmore should they depart in free agency.

6 of 32

Chicago Bears: OL, WR, DL, DB

Chicago Bears: OL, WR, DL, DB
Christopher Hanewinckel / USA Today Sports Images

It's clear the Bears need to do more to build around Justin Fields, fixing an offensive line that was in shambles last season while also adding to a wide receiver corps that really only has Darnell Mooney at this point. The defense has been the team's strength in recent seasons, but prominent players like Akiem Hicks and Tashaun Gipson could walk in free agency. It wouldn't be a surprise to see new head coach Matt Eberflus remake the defense with young players.

7 of 32

Cincinnati Bengals: OL, TE, DL, DB

Steve Roberts / USA Today Sports Images

Cincinnati made it to the Super Bowl despite a suspect offensive line, an area they know needs addressing immediately after Joe Burrow suffered another knee injury in the big game. The team is likely to find a way to retain tight end C.J. Uzomah, and would also do well to keep big defensive linemen B.J. Hill and Larry Ogunjobi around. The defensive backfield is set to take a hit, with Jessie Bates and Eli Apple among the free agents, so some youth would be welcome.

8 of 32

Cleveland Browns: QB, WR, DL

Cleveland Browns: QB, WR, DL
Philip G. Pavely / USA Today Sports Images

It's quite sad to think about, but Cleveland must wrestle with the question of whether Baker Mayfield is the long-term answer at quarterback after a terrible 2021 season. Spending an early-round pick at the position could light a fire under the former first overall draft choice. Wide receiver is also a need again despite astute recent picks Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz. The team doesn't have much on the defensive line to complement Myles Garrett, so addressing that area early in the draft is very likely.

9 of 32

Dallas Cowboys: OL, WR, DL, LB, S

Dallas Cowboys: OL, WR, DL, LB, S
Tim Heitman / USA Today Sports Images

The Cowboys were elite on the offensive line and wideout recently, but the team has aged quickly. A long-term replacement for the oft-injured Tyron Smith would be helpful, and the wideouts could be in shambles if the team moves on from Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. There are also several prominent free agents on the defense that the Cowboys could allow to walk, with the team desperately needing to add complementary pieces to Demarcus Lawrence, Micah Parsons, and Trevon Diggs.

10 of 32

Denver Broncos: OL, LB, CB

Denver Broncos: OL, LB, CB
Isaiah J. Downing / USA Today Sports Images

Russell Wilson is now a member of the Denver Broncos, so the team will need to protect the quarterback better in 2022 than they did in 2021. The defense may get Von Miller, back but the team needs a cornerback to play opposite Patrick Surtain. With a lot of Denver's 2022 draft capital now in Seattle, the new coaching staff will be tasked with molding young players into immediate contributors.

11 of 32

Detroit Lions: WR, DL, LB, DB

Detroit Lions: WR, DL, LB, DB

Detroit has more needs than spots where they are set, but they can only do so much in one offseason. The team can make due with Jared Goff and their talented offensive line, but they need many more offensive weapons. The defense is in disarray after Matt Patricia and company's failed efforts and will be looking to add quality young players at all three levels.

12 of 32

Green Bay Packers: WR, LB, OL

Aaron Rodgers is not going anywhere. Neither is Davante Adams. Regardless, the team could still add a playmaker at the receiver position. Tackling machine De'Vondre Campbell's potential loss also creates a need for a young linebacker, and the offensive line could use more young depth.

Houston Texans: Everything

Where do we start? The Texans are still in a complete rebuild after Bill O'Brien's front office debacle, and it wouldn't be a shock to see full roster turnover over the next couple of years. The Texans do have a few potential keepers like Davis Mills, Nico Collins, and Jonathan Greenard, but there are no sure things on this roster.

14 of 32

Indianapolis Colts: QB, OL, WR, DB

Robert Scheer / USA Today Sports Images

The Colts are set to move on from Carson Wentz, and it's unlikely they will find an immediate answer in this year's draft. That might not stop them from trying. The new quarterback will need more support than Michael Pittman Jr., and the pending free agencies of Eric Fisher and Mark Glowinski create questions on the offensive line. The secondary has some impressive young players, starting with Rock Ya-Sin and Kenny Moore, but need to build more depth at corner and safety.

15 of 32

Jacksonville Jaguars: OL, DL, LB, DB

Jacksonville Jaguars: OL, DL, LB, DB
David Butler II / USA Today Sports Images

It was clear from the start that the Jags needed to protect Trevor Lawrence better last year, and could focus on that area with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. The defensive personnel decisions have been more bad than good in recent seasons, and Jacksonville desperately needs to build around Josh Allen with more blue-chip talent at all three levels.

16 of 32

Kansas City Chiefs: WR, DE, DB, RB

Kansas City Chiefs: WR, DE, DB, RB
Jay Biggerstaff / USA Today Sports Images

We heard all too often last year "if the Chiefs only had a better No. 2 wideout.". They have their chance in a deep draft to take attention away from Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. They desperately need pass rush help with several key free agents and Frank Clark a possible cap casualty. The secondary could also be remade with free agents Tyrann Mathieu and Charvarius Ward, among others, possibly departing. Despite using a first-round pick on Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2020, the Chiefs would do well to add more young depth to help take the pressure off of Patrick Mahomes.

Las Vegas Raiders: OL, WR, DL, DB

Las Vegas Raiders: OL, WR, DL, DB
Jay Bigggerstaff / USA Today Sports Images

The new Raiders regime has some ground to cover after curious recent moves and drafts by the team. The offensive line struggled for much of last year, and the loss of Henry Ruggs leaves a clear void at wide receiver. The team also needs to beef up on the interior of the defensive line, and the secondary is lacking depth beyond Nate Hobbs, Trayvon Mullen, and Tre'von Moehrig-Woodard. It wouldn't be a huge surprise to see new head coach Josh McDaniels make even more drastic moves in the offseason, as he did when he took over the Broncos.

18 of 32

Los Angeles Chargers: OL, DL, LB

Los Angeles Chargers: OL, DL, LB
Robert Hanashiro / USA Today Sports Images

The Chargers did a nice job addressing the offensive line last offseason with first-round pick Rashawn Slater and free agent Corey Linsley, but now the right side of the line needs a jolt. The pass rush missed Melvin Ingram last year, while the team has multiple free agents at linebacker and in the secondary. As promising as the recent drafts have been for the Chargers, it would be a surprise if they didn't hit on their biggest needs.

19 of 32

Los Angeles Rams: OL, DL, DB

Los Angeles Rams: OL, DL, DB
Mark J. Rebilas / USA Today Sports Images

The Rams have some needs, especially on the offensive line with multiple free agents and the possible retirement of Andrew Whitworth, but they don't have the draft capital to accomplish much with only one fifth-round pick and two seventh rounders. They will likely be aggressive on the non-drafted free agent market to make up for their lack of picks, but would do well to fill any of their imminent offensive line, defensive line, or defensive back needs going that route.

20 of 32

Miami Dolphins: OL, RB, DL, LB

Miami Dolphins: OL, RB, DL, LB

New head coach Mike McDaniel will likely look to improve the Dolphins running game immediately, if his time in San Francisco is any indication, and that will involve heavy investments in the offensive line and at running back. The team has plenty of draft capital to find starters in those areas, as well as on the defense with prominent free agents Emmanuel Ogbah and Elandon Roberts possibly going elsewhere.

21 of 32

Minnesota Vikings: WR, DL, LB, DB

Minnesota had an elite defense for a long period during Mike Zimmer's tenure, but the unit got long in the tooth near the end. New defensive coordinator Ed Donatell has his work cut out for him with what will likely be a youthful unit, as the team could need to replace Sheldon Richardson, Anthony Barr, Nick Vigil, Patrick Peterson, and Xavier Woods. With the recent decline of Adam Thielen, the team might also be in the market for a wideout early in the draft to complement Justin Jefferson.

22 of 32

New England Patriots: OL, WR, LB, DB

New England Patriots: OL, WR, LB, DB
Vincent Carchietta / USA Today Sports Images

New England might need to replace offensive line starters Trent Brown and Ted Karras this offseason, and the draft is a viable option. The team struck out on N'Keal Harry as a first-round pick at wide receiver in 2019, but they shouldn't deter them from trying again in a deep draft. Bill Belichick has repeatedly done a masterful job with defensive player development, and he will be looking for late gems with Dont'a Hightower, Ja'Whaun Bentley, Jamie Collins, J.C. Jackson, and Devin McCourty headed toward free agency.

New Orleans Saints: QB, WR, OL, S

Given their major cap issues, there aren't many teams with a more important draft pending than the Saints. They have obvious issues across the offense, including quarterback, wideout, and the offensive line should Terron Armstead depart. The defense is in better shape, though safety Marcus Williams is a free agent.

24 of 32

New York Giants: OL, TE, DL, LB

New York Giants: OL, TE, DL, LB

Building the offensive line seems to be a yearly occurrence for the Giants, and yet it's likely their top priority again. It remains to be seen if they will retain any of their three free-agent starting linemen. The same is true with the disappointing and oft-injured tight end Evan Engram, so the team could expend more draft resources on offense. The defense needs to address the front seven or Don Martindale's aggressive scheme won't work very well, and that figures to be addressed through some combination of free agency and the draft.

25 of 32

New York Jets: WR, DL, LB, DB

New York Jets: WR, DL, LB, DB
Rich Barnes / USA Today Sports Images

As the Jets try to develop Zach Wilson, they desperately need to find him more weapons. The team's multiple free agents at wide receiver make that need even direr. Robert Saleh didn't have much to work with on defense last year, and as things stand now, the team is set to employ several raw, recent late-round picks at all three levels. New York has the resources to completely revamp the defense this offseason with two picks in the top 10 and four picks in the top 38.

26 of 32

Philadelphia Eagles: OL, DL, LB, DB

Philadelphia Eagles: OL, DL, LB, DB
Danielle Parhizkaran / USA Today Sports Images

With the retirement of Brandon Brooks and the possible departure of Jason Kelce, the Eagles might need to take an offensive lineman early in the draft for the first time in a while. Even more pressing could be their defensive needs, with Derek Barnett, Genard Avery, Steven Nelson, Rodney McLeod, and Anthony Harris pending free agents. Philly needs to get younger at all three levels, but they have a whopping three first-round picks.

27 of 32

Pittsburgh Steelers: QB, OL, DB

Pittsburgh Steelers: QB, OL, DB
Eric Hartline / USA Today Sports Images

Anyone who witnessed the Steelers play in 2021 could see the apparent needs at quarterback and the offensive line. The team's starting quarterback for 2022 probably isn't on the team yet, and it's not a stretch to expect five new starters on the line with a revamp similar to what the Chiefs did last offseason. Pittsburgh's defense remains elite, but free agents Akhello Witherspoon, Joe Haden, and Terrell Edmunds create some complications that could be addressed in the draft.

28 of 32

San Francisco 49ers: OL, DL, DB

San Francisco 49ers: OL, DL, DB
Cary Edmondson / USA Today Sports Images

The 49ers have somewhat limited draft capital after spending big to trade up for Trey Lance last offseason. That could change if they are able to get something significant for Jimmy Garoppolo via trade, but the team still has three picks through the first three rounds. The offensive line could have two holes, plus aged Alex Mack and Trent Williams, so that should be the top priority. The defensive line depth is also set to take a big hit in free agency, and the secondary stands to lose significant players K'Waun Williams, Josh Norman, Jaquiski Tartt, and Dontae Johnson in free agency.

29 of 32

Seattle Seahawks: QB, OL, TE, DL, DB

Seattle Seahawks: QB, OL, TE, DL, DB
Joe Nicholson / USA Today Sports Images

With Russell Wilson now in Denver, the Seahawks have some tough decisions to make this offseason. Left tackle Duane Brown is a free agent. On the defensive side of the ball, significant players like Rasheem Green, D.J. Reed, Sidney Jones, Quandre Diggs, and Ryan Neal are also free agents. Of course, they also need a new quarterback for the first time in a decade, but given this year's week class, Seattle's new signal-caller likely won't be a 2022 draft pick.

30 of 32

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: QB, RB, OL, TE, DL, DB

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: QB, RB, OL, TE, DL, DB
Eric Hartline / USA Today Sports Images

The Bucs took a risk keeping their Super Bowl squad from 2020 together and now must face the consequences. Strong recent drafts should give fans confidence about the rebuild, but there are a great number of areas to address. The most pressing needs are a quarterback of the future, running back, offensive line, and defensive line, but the team also has key free agents in other areas. Some of the holes will be filled in free agency, but the team is almost to the point of needing to take the best player available, regardless of position.

31 of 32

Tennessee Titans: OL, TE, LB

Tennessee Titans: OL, TE, LB
Christopher Hanewinckel / USA Today Sports Images

The Titans are still paying for striking out on first-round pick Isaiah Wilson in 2020, with the offensive line possibly headed for a complete overhaul. The team also really missed Jonnu Smith at tight end last year, and multiple free agents at the position make the situation even more urgent. The linebacker position is even more important if the Titans aren't able to retain Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry.

32 of 32

Washington Commanders: QB, OL, DB

Washington Commanders: QB, OL, DB
Geoff Burke / USA Today Sports Images

Washington kicked the can down the road at quarterback last offseason by signing Ryan Fitzpatrick, but they can't afford to overlook the position again. They will also need bodies to protect the new quarterback with multiple offensive line free agents, including Brandon Scherff. The defense remains loaded with talent, but the secondary is getting older, particularly at cornerback.
