On December 12th, 2010, The Minnesota Metrodome’s Roof collapsed due to a heavy snow fall. This led to them Spending at that time $1.061 billion dollars on a new state of the art stadium {the U.S. Bank stadium). On February 4th, 2018, they hosted Super Bowl LII.
U.S. Bank stadium was the first in now a long list of team stadiums to be rewarded with a Super Bowl by building new up to date “super stadiums”.
The Rams and the Chargers shared the cost $5.5 billion dollars to build SoFi Stadium. It’s one of if not the most cutting-edge facilities in the NFL.
The Bills new stadium is a lot less than SOFIs, between $2.1 and $2.2 billion dollars it would be considered the new standard in Super stadiums, not as expensive as SOFI but still it carries with it all the benefits that come with a new stadium.
Allegiant Stadium in Las, Vegas cost $1.9 billion to build and has already hosted one Super Bowl and is expected to do another soon.
It has been reported the Glazer family are looking to spend $1 billion or thereabout on a “Stadium Renovation”?
Yes, I said “renovation”
Nice right? but with NFL Teams looking for bigger venues and more Super Bowl chances the Buccaneers are gambling mightily on renovations to an outdated stadium built in the late nineties to bring that revenue a Super Bowl brings, not to mention possibly bringing in a NFL draft to Tampa, that in itself brought Pittsburgh quite a bit of extra cash flow, not just in money from the event itself but in the extra business flow and contacts.
In my honest opinion Tampa needs to spend that money on a new stadium that can be a jewel in the eye of Florida for decades to come.
