The Jacksonville Jaguars made one of the biggest moves of the offseason by trading up for two-way phenom Travis Hunter.
The biggest perk of this move is, obviously, the fact that they acquired one of, if not the best player, in the 2025 NFL Draft. Another perk has become clear, though, thanks to them trading away their second round pick as part of the deal. This allows them not to have to deal with the ongoing contract disputes between NFL teams and their second-round selections.
Unsigned #NFL 1st Rd Picks

#2 Travis Hunter (JAX, WR/CB)
#17 Shemar Stewart (CIN, DE)
#20 Jahdae Barron (DEN, CB)
Also Unsigned? Every 2nd Rd pick not named Carson Schwesinger & Jayden Higgins, both of whom received fully guaranteed contracts, sending the round into disarray.
The Jaguars' AFC South rivals, the Houston Texans, have caused quite the commotion thanks to their decision to give WR Jayden Higgins the first ever fully guaranteed contract for a second round selection. After this move, the Cleveland Browns followed suit and gave LB Carson Schwesinger a fully guaranteed contract. Outside of the top two selections in the second round, the other 30 still remain unsigned.
The reason for this is that these players are holding out for the same type of deal as Higgins and Schwesinger. Training camp is around the corner, and teams will have to figure out how they are going to compromise and get their second round picks signed and ready for the season. Luckily, the Jaguars don't have to worry about that. However, Travis Hutner still remains unsigned. But I think they will have a much easier time getting that deal across the finish line than the rest of the league, with teams seeming to be stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment.
