Fantasy football managers have several running back injury situations to monitor before 2026 drafts gain momentum. Most of these players are pushing toward Week 1 availability, though we may have to wait a bit longer for one prominent back on this list.
These updates can affect draft cost, early-season usage, handcuff value, and roster construction at one of fantasy’s most volatile positions.
The full severity of last season's gruesome injury includes a deltoid ligament tear, an ankle dislocation, and a compound fracture. Skattebo was present for voluntary workouts in April, and the current expectation is that he has a chance for Week 1. Although the bruiser probably won't be at full strength right away, it's telling New York felt comfortable not adding another back to this stable in the offseason.
The Browns hope to get Judkins on the field with an increased workload during training camp. He suffered a dislocated right ankle and fractured fibula in late December, so the team will take it easy on him until the real deal rolls around. Judkins should be ready to roll come Week 1.
Head coach Mike Macdonald said Charbonnet is “not going to miss the whole year” after a torn ACL on Jan. 17. The reconstruction typically takes nine months, which lines up with a likely October/November return. Seattle moved on from Kenneth Walker III after his brilliant Super Bowl display and spent the No. 32 overall choice on Jadarian Price after signing Emanuel Wilson in free agency. Charbonnet is merely a late-round fantasy flier at this point.
Arizona confirmed he underwent foot surgery last September, though the specific nature of the injury wasn't disclosed. Conner participated in the team's early-April offseason program, so he should be good for Week 1. However, in his age-31 season, Conner now has competition not only in the form of free-agent addition Tyler Allgeier but also a more direct threat from No. 3 overall pick Jeremiyah Love.
Brooks retore his right ACL in December 2024, and Carolina’s May 2025 PUP placement confirmed he would miss that entire season. The long layoff gives him a path toward returning in 2026 after being cleared, but repeated ACL damage to the same knee makes him a total unknown for fantasy. Will he have the same burst? Is he at greater risk of yet another tear? Drafting Brooks is risky business, folks.
Harris' early-season Achilles tear at least gives him a chance to play early in 2026, but backs coming off Achilles repairs usually experience limited burst for a year or so, and he already wasn't explosive. Harris remains a free agent as of early May.
