Lions sign former Bengals and Georgia Tech tackle Devin Cochran

The Detroit Lions are having some issues on the offensive line, if you haven't noticed. One of those issues is tackle depth. Last week, Jamarco Jones, who beat out Dan Skipper for the swing tackle spot on the 53-man roster, suffered a season-ending ankle injury. Speaking of Skipper, he didn't practice all week, either. That left the Lions with Mason Miller and Giovanni Manu. Two guys who are definitely not ready yet.

The Lions are now adding a new man to the mix, and this guy is huge. Former Bengals tackle Devin Cochran is signing with the Lions, per his agency, Elite Loyalty Sports.

We mentioned he was big. Cochran stands at 6-foot-7 and 330 pounds, and I'm sure the WWE is foaming at the mouth for this guy to be done with football. Cochran went undrafted in 2022 out of Georgia Tech, where he was with both running backs coach Tashard Choice and running back Jahmyr Gibbs. The latter ran for 746 yards and four touchdowns in his final year at Georgia Tech, with Cochran leading the way.

In the NFL, Cochran spent most of his time with the Bengals' practice squad, but in 2024, he played nine regular-season games and started one. He allowed eight pressures and one sack in that game. We reached out to our Bengals beat writer, John Sheeran, to get some insight on Cochran. Here's what he had to say:

"Devin Cochran stuck around longer than most UDFAs do on the Bengals practice squad, and clearly, there was a reason. Despite an injury that ended his 2023 season before it even started, Cochran was kept around and eventually earned his way onto the field for brief moments in 2024. He damn near made the 2025 roster as well, but a new offensive line coach had other plans, and Cochran’s three-year run in Cincy ended. He’s not going to be a reliable starter, but as an emergency option off the bench, you could find worse as a midseason addition."
