The NFL Is Back: Football Season Has Finally Arrived

The wait is finally over. NFL football is back.

After months of offseason moves, training camp battles, preseason games and endless predictions, the 2026 NFL season is finally ready to begin. Fans have been waiting since the Super Bowl, and now the road to Super Bowl LXI officially gets underway.

And the league couldn’t have picked a better matchup to start the season.

A Super Bowl Rematch Opens the Season

The 2026 season begins Wednesday night with a rematch of Super Bowl LX, as the defending champion Seattle Seahawks host the New England Patriots.

Seattle enters the season looking to defend its championship, while New England gets an immediate opportunity to prove that last year’s Super Bowl loss is behind it. The matchup gives fans a playoff atmosphere before the rest of Week 1 even begins.

For football fans, it’s the perfect way to end the long offseason.

New Teams, New Stars and New Expectations

The offseason brought plenty of changes across the league.

Several teams have new coaches, quarterbacks and major additions, creating plenty of uncertainty heading into Week 1. The Pittsburgh Steelers, for example, enter the season with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers reunited with Mike McCarthy, while the Las Vegas Raiders are preparing for the next chapter of their franchise with top draft pick Fernando Mendoza.
