The Baltimore Ravens have revenge on their minds. The way the 2024 season ended is undoubtedly the kind of loss that will leave a bad taste in your mouth and, thankfully, Baltimore will not need to wait very long at all to get their chance at revenge. Baltimore visits Buffalo on Sunday Night Football this weekend for their season-opening contest.
But one of the big names to join the Ravens this offseason in their bid for a breakthrough has been missing in action for the last month — including yesterday's practice. Coach John Harbaugh gave everyone an update on star cornerback Jaire Alexander, and while Harbaugh was pretty mum on the details, the writing on the wall has reached the point of at least being worth some concern.
“I need (Jaire Alexander) practicing this week. That would be the key, so we'll see where he’s at on Wednesday. He did some things today, so that's kind of how it works. In terms of just injury updates, (you are) probably not going to get much out of me at this point, unless it's an obvious one (or) unless we know if a guy's going to play or if he’s not going to play. So, you might get a little more on Friday, just because you'll know who hasn't practiced...no (Jaire Alexander did not practice). He was working today on physical stuff. He's moving."

Baltimore is fairly well-equipped to handle time without Alexander if whatever the specifics of his knee issue are extend beyond this week's practices and cost him Week 1. The Ravens could easily roll out Nate Wiggins, Marlon Humphrey, and Chidobe Awuzie and feel as though they have a good mix of youth and experience to go with a diverse set of safeties.
But this knee issue for Alexander is the same one that has cost Alexander time before. Coach Harbaugh stated a few weeks back that it is "something he's been dealing with for a few years", meaning this is a chronic issue and we've now seen it seep into Alexanders' 2025 before things have even gotten started. This could all just be primarily precautionary and Alexander could easily be suited up by Wednesday or Thursday for practice and be ready to push play on Sunday night.
But no matter how Week 1 unfolds, it's probably worth keeping tabs and being leery of Alexander's knee indefinitely. It's a long season and the early developments haven't been encouraging.
