The Steelers’ Keys To Victory Against The Patriots In Week 3

The Pittsburgh Steelers aim to get back on track when they travel to Foxborough to face the New England Patriots in Week 3. The Steelers embarrassed them last week against the Seattle Seahawks. Mistakes piled up and led to an avoidable loss. This week, they have a chance to redeem themselves, but it won’t be easy. The Patriots are a young, hungry team trying to establish itself in the competitive AFC. These are the Steelers’ keys to victory in Week 3.

5. Stop The Run

Stopping the run is easier said than done in the NFL, but Pittsburgh’s run defense has been abysmal. They are allowing 149.5 yards per game on the ground. Breece Hall, Justin Fields, and Kenneth Walker III have done dirty things to them in the past two weeks. It has to stop in Week 3. They can’t let Rhamondre Stevenson or TreVeyon Henderson run wild all afternoon. If they do, they will be 1-2 to start the season.

4. Get To Drake Maye

Pittsburgh is known for getting to the quarterback, but they have only registered three sacks this season. That number has to leap in Week 3. The Patriots have allowed seven sacks through two games. Alex Highsmith won’t be available, but T.J. Watt and Nick Herbig can get the job done. Watt is due for a big game. He got paid; now it’s time for him to wreak havoc on the field.

3. Let Aaron Rodgers Cook

Aaron Rodgers hasn’t played a bad game yet, considering the poor offensive line play. The only quarterbacks who have been hit more than Rodgers through two games are Patrick Mahomes and Cam Ward. That trend has to stop. The Steelers will rely on Rodgers to make plays and win this game. New England is allowing over 300 passing yards per game through two games. Rodgers can will the Steelers to a win in Week 3.

2. Stay Healthy

The injury big won’t leave the Steelers alone. They lost Joey Porter Jr and DeShon Elliott in Week 1. In Week 2, Alex Highsmith and Isaiahh Loudermilk went down with ankle injuries. Derrick Harmon injured his knee in the preseason finale, but he has a chance to make his NFL debut on Sunday. The defense needs his services. Staying healthy is imperative to success this season.

1. Play Steelers Football

The Steelers have to get back to their identity in Week 3. The defense hasn’t made the splash plays that they usually rely on. Watt doesn’t have a sack yet. Pittsburgh has had little success running the football. If the Steelers want to turn their season around, all of that has to change. It’s time to get back to playing Steel City football in Week 3.

End Of My Steelers Rant

The Patriots are a good football team with a great coach in Mike Vrabel, but this is another winnable game for Pittsburgh. They can’t afford to cough up 30 points again. For once, the offense is less of a concern than the defense. For the last five years, it has been the opposite. The Pittsburgh defense is full of stars, and they need to step up in Week 3.
