Three post-waiver fantasy football QBs for Week 7

With two of the NFL’s top quarterbacks in Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson on a bye and even more quarterbacks struggling to stay healthy in Week 7, these forgotten passers could hold the key to fantasy success.

Jacoby Brissett | Arizona Cardinals

Brissett has 55 touchdowns in his 10-year career, including two in a 31-27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The 32-year-old journeyman had the Cardinals up heading into the fourth quarter, but in the end, the team had no answers for Colts quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Jonathan Taylor.

Jones' 44 attempts were third-most in the league last week, his 327 yards were second to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones and his 21.70 fantasy points were seventh-most among quarterbacks.

Brissett played in place of starting quarterback Kyler Murray, who missed the game with a mid-foot injury and could miss this week’s matchup with the Green Bay Packers

"When he's out there and ready to play, he'll play," Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters on Monday.

The Packers defense got off to a strong start with four sacks and 10.00 fantasy points in Week 1 but have finished with single-digit scores since then, including a -3.00 performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4.

Keep an eye on the Cardinals' injury report, but desperate owners may not find a better option than Brissett.

Brissett remains available in 98%t of leagues.

C.J. Stroud | Houston Texans

The Texans went into their Week 6 bye with a 44-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens, thanks to a 244-yard, four-touchdown performance from their third-year quarterback. Stroud’s touchdowns were his most since throwing five scores against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023.

His 28.76 fantasy points led all quarterbacks in Week 5, thanks in part to a 30-yard scramble in the second quarter that nearly went into the end zone. This week, he’ll face the Seattle Seahawks, a team allowing 18.06 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.

They’ll also get a week off after hosting the Texans on Monday Night Football, something that could distract the home team.

Stroud remains available in 46% of leagues.

Bryce Young | Carolina Panthers

Don’t look now, but the Panthers are riding a two-game winning streak thanks to Young’s three-touchdown performance against the Cowboys in Week 6, his second of the year. He received 19.46 fantasy points for the effort and could do even better against the New York Jets if rookie receiver Tetairoa McMillan continues to improve.

McMillan caught two of Young’s three touchdown passes against Dallas, earning a season-high 17.90 fantasy points despite seeing a season-low five targets. He’ll see plenty of cornerback Sauce Gardner when the team travels to MetLife Stadium, but Young finally looks to be playing with confidence.

The Jets defense has yet to register double-digit fantasy points in any game, and also posted a -3.00 fantasy score against Dallas in Week 5.

Young remains available in 78% of leagues.
