Time for the Cowboys to acquire DeAndre Hopkins?

Arizona's regime change may place DeAndre Hopkins on the offseason trading block, making him a prime target for the Cowboys, who need a No. 2 option alongside CeeDee Lamb.

On Tuesday's "First Take," former Cowboy and ESPN analyst Marcus Spears said, "They're (the Cowboys) not serious about winning a Super Bowl" if they don't acquire Hopkins.

Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler, would invigorate the Cowboys passing offense, which ranked 14th in yards last season. Although Hopkins served a six-game suspension after violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy, he still finished 10th in receiving yards per game (79.8).

Arizona's rebuilding after a 4-13 season, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals hired Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon as their HC on Tuesday. They also hired GM Monti Ossenfort in January.

These moves increased the probability of a Hopkins trade. According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, Hopkins and Ossenfort recently discussed his future amid trade speculation.

Per OverTheCap, a Hopkins trade before June 1 will save the Cardinals $8.2M in cap space and may accumulate more draft capital.

The Cowboys have a low first-round selection (No.26 overall via ESPN), which they could use in a Hopkins-centered package.

Trading a first-round pick is less than ideal, but similar deals worked. Last offseason, the Raiders shipped their 2022 first-round pick to Green Bay for Davante Adams, who made his sixth Pro Bowl.

If the Cowboys unite Hopkins and Lamb, two premier WRs, it could propel their offense into the league's elite.
