Titans get clarity on Patriots starting QB situation
USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans (1-6) have made preparing for two quarterback each week a part of their routine. Their next opponent, the New England Patriots (2-6), provided some clarity on their signal-caller situation ahead of their Week 9 trip to Nashville.

New England announced on Saturday that rookie Drake Maye cleared concussion protocol and has been removed from the injury report.

Drake Maye To Start Against Titans

The expectation is that Maye will start in Tennessee.

Maye suffered the concussion in the first half of the team's 25-22 victory over the New York Jets (3-6). Backup Jacoby Brissett handled things against New York, but is best in his reserve role while the team continues to get this year's No. 3 overall pick more playing experience. Maye has completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 564 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions in his four games (three starts).

The rookie also adds additional juice for the Patriots ground game, rushing for 114 yards and a touchdown in his limited action.

The Titans will try to capitalize on Maye's lack of NFL exposure after a 52-14 dismantling in Week 8 by the Detroit Lions. Quarterback Will Levis has a chance to return to the line-up for the first time in two weeks after dealing with a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder.
