Tom Brady isn't upset that he was "banned'' from attending a Kansas City Chiefs practice this week because it's feared he's some sort of "secret double-agent''; he's the analyst for the FOX broadcast crew at Super Bowl LIX, but he's also a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders -
No, something else about the Chiefs is rubbing the GOAT the wrong way.
Yes, Brady being both FOX's No. 1 analyst and a minority owner of the Raiders has been awkward all season. It's prompted a special set of rules, just for Brady, outlining what he can and can't do in his role as a broadcaster.
All year, Brady has been kept out of production meetings that other broadcasters attend because of concerns that he could learn valuable information about other teams that he could then relay for the Raiders’ advantage.
During LIX week some of Brady's limitations have been relaxed. But Chiefs owner Clark Hunt told reporters this week that Brady would still not be allowed to attend his team's practice.
Tom will be fine. The broadcast will be fine. We will all be fine.
But no, there is another beef that matters more. And Brady is moved to speak out on it.
The conspiracy theories from fans and even media have created a narrative that the real reason the Chiefs are winning - and will in theory beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in New Orleans - is that the gams are fixed in favor of KC.
The controversy is such that even NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has been moved to shut them down.
And now Brady, appearing on "Fox & Friends" and asked to comment on the referee controversy, is doing the same.
“I think it’s just all B.S. It’s just a bunch of noise,” Brady said. “These refs have very challenging jobs to do. ... But these refs are out there trying to do their very best."
With a win in Sunday's Super Bowl LIX, Patrick Mahomes' career will move closer to matching Brady's is terms of being a champion.
That is one of many, many important storylines for this game.
But the Super Bowl being fixed?
Tom Brady says it's "B.S.''
