Through his legendary 23-year career, former NFL quarterback Tom Brady faced off against many of the NFL's best defenders. Considering he was seven-time Super Bowl champion, consistently facing the league's top talent was no surprise.
That includes several iconic cornerbacks, including Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman, Champ Bailey, Aqib Talib, Charles Woodson, Patrick Peterson and Ronde Barber, to name a few.
Of course, each of these players had an amazing career and, in their own ways, is considered one of the greatest cornerbacks in NFL history. It's a heavily debated topic on who truly deserves the title and Brady recently revealed his opinion.
While building the Mount Rushmore of NFL receivers, Brady was making a case as to why his former teammate and tight end, Rob Gronkowski, deserved a spot. While doing so, he revealed his belief that Revis is the greatest cornerback in NFL history.
“Rob Gronkowski could get open on Darrelle Revis,” Brady said. “On the best corner of all time… The best cover guy in my mind that I ever played against was Darrelle Revis.”
When it came down to the final spot on The Receivers Rushmore.. Tom Brady made quite a case for why Gronk MUST be in.

As a Pro Football Hall of Famer, Revis did enjoy a storied 11-year career with the New York Jets, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs.
During that time, he won a Super Bowl, was named to seven Pro Bowls, and earned First-team All-Pro honors four times. He also racked up 496 tackles, 139 pass deflections, 29 interceptions and 12 fumble recoveries.
He earned the nickname "Revis Island" due to his ability to shut down any wide receiver unfortunate enough to line up across from him.
Of course, Revis and Brady were also together on the Patriots in 2014, which means he got a close look at Revis as a teammate and opponent.
The admiration is mutual - Revis previously told ESPN's Rich Cimini in 2016, "He’s the ultimate competitor. He’s always been that way since he stepped into the league. He’s continuing his legacy as being probably the best quarterback to ever step on the field.”
While fans argue other names in the conversation, Brady's endorsement adds real credibility for those saying "Revis Island" was the toughest territory in NFL history.
