Trade proposal features Eagles making big move in NFL Draft

What would it take to get the Lions' No. 6 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft? We could soon find out.

According to Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com, Detroit has been taking calls about trading the sixth overall pick. The Lions and Eagles both have multiple first-round picks in this year’s draft, so it’s not hard to imagine either team making a draft-day move.

While the internet is abuzz with Detroit fans hoping to steal the 10th and 30th pick from Philadelphia, others have more reasonable expectations. Earlier this month, USA Today’s Russell Brown envisioned a deal full of mid-round and future selections.

In exchange for the sixth overall pick, Detroit would receive Philadelphia’s first-round pick in 2023 (10th overall), a third-round pick (94th overall) and another third-round pick in 2024.

Using trade values listed on Draftek.com, Brown believes both teams could be satisfied with the deal as each would receive equal value. But what do the Eagles value at pick No. 6?

If Philadelphia trades up from the 10th spot, many believe it would be for Georgia DT Jalen Carter. Once considered the draft’s top prospect, off-field concerns could worry some NFL teams but Philadelphia doesn’t appear to be one of them.

The Eagles had Carter in for a pre-draft visit earlier this month and according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, one AFC scout even referred to Carter as a "Howie Roseman pick." Philadelphia has a history of loading up on linemen and the defense was a big reason the team made it to Super Bowl LVII.

Given that his team lost 60 tackles and 11 sacks with Javon Hargrave’s departure, Roseman could do worse than a two-time CFP champion and unanimous All-American.
