Travis Kelce Announces Personal Update Away From Football

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs had the opportunity to rest and recuperate over the past couple of weeks. After their disappointing 28-21 loss to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in Week 9, Kelce and Co. welcomed a much-needed mid-season break during their bye. The Chiefs got two weeks off leading into Sunday’s highly anticipated matchup against the 8-2 Denver Broncos.

Kelce took some time away from football during the bye week, and the four-time All-Pro tight end shared some updates during the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast with his older brother, Philadelphia Eagles icon Jason Kelce.

After the Chiefs’ loss against the Bills at Orchard Park, Kelce headed to New York City to spend some of his downtime during the bye week. The 10-time Pro Bowler was spotted on a night out with his future wife, Taylor Swift.

On Wednesday’s episode of his podcast, Kelce announced that he was, indeed, in NYC during his mid-season break.

"I got out of the house a little bit, I went over to New York," Kelce said. "Just hung out. Put the feet up, saw some cool places, ate some great food. I got to feel the big city and its electricity and its buzz that it's always got.

"It's cool to just vibe around the city like that. I think that's one of my favorite things to do in New York — be one with the city. Just kind of walk the streets and feel the electricity, feeling everybody doing their own [expletive], and then meeting a few new people along the way."

The Chiefs star said that he watched NFL games on Monday, Thursday and Sunday, but also admitted that he also took some time away from football during his bye.

"You get so ingrained in the routine of things," Kelce said. "Your days are set. Your schedules are set during the season. The bye week is just that. If you're fortunate enough to come out healthy, and you can get away. ... I like to get away and recharge. See something else, see new city, feel like I'm somewhere else and kind of just shut it down.

"Being in Kansas City for 13 years straight for eight months out of the year, it's like, that can be a nice home for somebody, but at the same time, I gotta move my feet. I gotta travel, I gotta see new things, visit friends."

That’s exactly what Kelce did during his mid-season break, and it appears that the 36-year-old was able to make the most out of his time off.

After recharging his batteries, Kelce is now focused on the task at hand. This comes in the form of the Broncos, who will pose a significant challenge for the Chiefs on Sunday. Bo Nix and Co. are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now and are riding an incredible seven-game winning streak.

Sunday’s AFC West rivalry showdown will take place at Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.
