Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs have now lost two consecutive games after falling 28-24 to Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Kansas City appeared to be in control for much of the marquee NFL game, building an 11-point lead before Denver mounted a fourth-quarter comeback.
The defeat also handed the Broncos first place in the division, leaving the Chiefs with plenty to address ahead of their next game.
The final moments made the loss particularly difficult to swallow. Kansas City reached the Broncos’ 1-yard line with an opportunity to take the lead, but Patrick Mahomes was sacked before the Chiefs could get the ball into the end zone.
Kelce finished with five catches for 67 yards on seven targets. He did not record a touchdown, and his longest reception covered 32 yards. Despite contributing as a receiver, the veteran tight end was left frustrated by the result.
Speaking after the game, Kelce acknowledged his own mistakes and admitted how frustrated he has been with his recent performances.
“The reality of things is that we got to fix a lot,” Kelce told Jesse Newell of The Athletic. “I’ve been frustrated with myself on how long I’ve been in the league and the procedural stuff that’s happened for the past three games… I gotta be better for my teammates. That sets the tone for a lot of people in this room and everybody’s just got to up the ante from that.”
