Tua Tagovailoa not focused on Deshaun Watson-to-Dolphins trade rumors

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a solid rookie campaign in 2020. However, he could very well play for another franchise in 2021.

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson reportedly prefers a trade to the Dolphins or New York Jets, making Tagovailoa's future in Miami uncertain. Despite the rumors, Tagovailoa admitted that he's just focused on getting better next season.

"I never heard about the rumor until my agent reached out to me," Tagovailoa said, according to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post. "I'm not one to really listen to the radio or watch ESPN. Really the only time I would watch TV would be to watch a football game on Sunday. I don't hear too much of that. The only time I heard about it was from my agent. That's something that would be out of my control, regardless. That would be on the decision of the Miami Dolphins organization. I have to control what I can control. Work hard. And do well next season."

It's unclear what Miami's intentions are, but passing on Watson, who would likely be excited to play for the franchise, would be a questionable move.

Watson is a three-time Pro Bowler and despite an awful overall season by the Texans in 2020, the 25-year-old had one of the best seasons of his career, recording career highs in passing yards (4,823) and passing touchdowns (33).

It's hard to compare Watson to Tagovailoa, who hasn't played a full season as a starter in the NFL. However, many experts, unsurprisingly, believe Watson is the better quarterback.

The Dolphins will be considering this question throughout the offseason, and rightfully so: Build around Tagovailoa? Or trade for Watson?
