The Denver Broncos announced the signing of tight end Cade Prieskorn on Tuesday, which reflects their continued efforts to find hidden gems who can contribute immediately. Prieskorn was initially signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft.

However, he was later waived by the Lions on May 12.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound tight end started his collegiate career at Memphis (2020-2022) where he played a total of 28 games, racking up 55 receptions and 681 receiving yards, leading the Tigers in receptions and receiving touchdowns.

Prieskorn finished his collegiate tenure at Ole Miss (2023-2024), proving he can compete at a high level. Over his two seasons with the Rebels, he secured 57 receptions and 850 receiving yards in a total of 23 games, steadily improving his strong resume.

The Broncos' newest addition will be joining Evan Engram, Nate Adkins, Lucas Krull, Caleb Lohner and Adam Trautman in the tight end room after Cole Fotheringham was waived with an injury designation on Tuesday.

Given the depth at the tight end position, Prieskorn's direct route to the active roster will be challenging. However, he could make the most of his opportunity to develop on the practice squad with the chance to improve his size, athleticism and pass-catching skills.

Prieskorn must adapt to the professional level and overcome the odds as an underdog in training camp and preseason games to determine his future in Denver.

Ultimately, Prieskorn symbolizes the high-risk, high-reward nature of athlete development. His performance in the coming months will determine whether that risk pays off for the Broncos.
