With the NFL preseason now in full swing, it is time for Fantasy Football fans to start getting to their draft boards and getting real about who is going to make or break their season.

Whether your strategy is to draft an elite bell cow running back first, or to take a more conventional route with superstar wide receivers, what matters more is to get the middle rounds right.

The fantasy football headaches over Puka Nacua and others near the top can be parked for now, although it does stay somewhat relevant.

What do you do if your elite wide receiver has serious problems with injuries, like Puka Nacua did last year? The next best option needs to be ready to step up to the plate of WR1 or WR2, or your flex.

One ‘unguardable’ wide receiver from the Baltimore Ravens is your answer, primed for a 5th or 6th round pick based on Average Drafting Position. If you already had him in dynasty, his stock is only going up.

Todd Monken to feed Baltimore Ravens WR Zay Flowers more in 2025

Drafting a Baltimore Ravens wide receiver has always been a risky move, but the trajectory of Zay Flowers‘ career, moving into his third year now, suggests he is going to have a big season.

The Ravens adding DeAndre Hopkins might deter fantasy football fans from selecting him in the mid-rounds, likely 5th or 6th, but if anything, it will benefit his space on the field.

Flowers is an electric-footed receiver who doesn’t need much to begin with to create separation, and he showed a significant jump from his rookie year into his second year, doing more with less.

Season Games Receptions Targets Yards YPR TDs
2023 16 77 108 858 11.1 5
2024 17 74 116 1069 14.3 4

Flowers and Lamar Jackson combined less in 2023 than they did in 2024, but the average yards per reception was 3.2 more per reception.

A third-year breakout is inevitable for Flowers, and he has a quarterback throwing better than he ever has before. He should effectively be a standout WR1 that can be poached in mid-late rounds.

Zay Flowers set for a big year, Fantasy Football PPR and Half-PPR players should take note

Not to mention, OC Todd Monken has made it clear that Flowers must get the ball more in 2025. He said in June: “We’ve just got to get him the ball more.

“He’s an unbelievable football player. He’s not only an outside receiver who has elite route-running skills, but he’s unbelievable with the ball in his hands. So you have a guy who really plays two spots.

“I’m not sure he can use that in his contract negotiations. But I’m just saying you can use him in a variety of roles to get him the ball, which allows your volume to go up. He’s a volume catch guy.

“You can use him in novelty screens, getting him the ball down the field. I expect him to take another leap. When you make it to the Pro Bowl, or you’re an All-Pro, you’re pretty good.” Both half-PPR and PPR fantasy players should take note.
