Veteran Quarterback Joe Flacco Signs Contract For 2025 NFL Season

Joe Flacco isn't ready to retire just yet. On Friday morning, the Super Bowl champion agreed to a one-year deal with a familiar team.

Flacco appeared in eight games for the Indianapolis Colts during the 2024 season, completing 65.3 percent of his passes for 1,761 yards with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. In 2023, he was named the Comeback Player of the Year due to his successful run with the Cleveland Browns. The team went 4-1 with him as the starter.

It appears Flacco liked Cleveland so much that he was willing to return for the 2025 season. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns have signed the veteran signal-caller to a one-year, $4 million deal.

The Browns had some competition for Flacco, per Schefter's report.

"Flacco also spoke with the Steelers and Vikings but opted to spend his 18th NFL season with the Browns," Schefter added.

Flacco will join a quarterback room that features an injured Deshaun Watson and Kenny Pickett. Earlier this week, Watson vowed to prove his doubters wrong.

"Everyone is doubting me." Watson said in an Instagram video. "Everyone don’t believe in me, Everyone don’t think I can get back to where I was. But I know, and I believe the work that I put in, that I believe in myself. The peace that I’ve been channelling the last couple of months. I know, I’m gonna be way better than before."

For now though, it'll be Flacco and Pickett competing for the job. Watson is still recovering from a torn Achilles.

The Browns could draft a quarterback with the No. 2 pick, but the front office is expected to take Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter.
