Veteran Steelers WR Battling Hamstring Injury

PITTSBURGH — Steelers wide receiver Anthony Miller is dealing with what he describes as a ‘slight hamstring tweak’ early on in OTAs. The team reported for offseason works out before the draft and has been running for around 4 weeks, and that can open players up to some injuries.

Miller confirmed to me that he did not practice on Thursday with the injury. However, he says that there is not much concern with the injury and he feels that he can be back on the field in no time.

“You know, I just have a little hamstring (injury),” Miller said. “We’ve been running for about, you know, 4 weeks straight at this point. I’ve put at all. You know, there’s not much concern. We just chilled out a little bit.”

Miller is looking to make an impact in the Steelers wide receiver room this year. He missed all of 2022 with a shoulder injury that he suffered in training camp. However, he used the experience as a way to get caught up in different trends around the league to see where he is at right now.

So, Miller is hoping that can help him take a step to win the slot receiver job or at the very least, make a dent and impact on the roster. He feels like this could be the opportunity for him to do it, but the injury does hold that back, of course.

In January, the Steelers re-signed Miller to a one-year contract. Miller with compete with rookie Calvin Austin III, who also spent all of 2022 on the injured reserve list, returning veteran Gunner Olszewski, XFL standout Hakeem Butler, and others in the competition for what the team hopes can bring out the best in all parties involved. Before he got injured, Miller was a standout in training camp and well on his way to making the team.
