The Vikings traded for Allen ahead of the 2008 season to fortify their pass rush tenfold. To acquire him from the Kansas City Chiefs, they gave up a first-round pick and two third-round picks in the 2008 NFL Draft.
Once the Vikings acquired Allen, the defense took off. With Kevin Williams next to him, Allen thrived. He had 85.5 sacks in six seasons with the Vikings among his 136.0 career sacks. During his time in Minnesota, Allen was a three-time All-Pro with the Vikings and four-time All-Pro overall, while also making five Pro Bowl teams. Allen is also number one in National Football League history with four safeties forced.
It's about time that Allen got into the Hall of Fame and he becomes the 23rd Viking inducted.
