Vikings' Justin Jefferson Breaks Silence on His Hamstring Injury

The Minnesota Vikings picked up from where they left off in the regular season last year. J.J. McCarthy's era began with a 20-10 win over the Houston Texans in the preseason opener. The Vikings put a major chunk of their roster to the test on both sides of the field.

However, the Vikings' superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson was one name that eluded the gridiron. The four-time Pro Bowler is mending a mild hamstring strain he picked up days into the training camp.

Jefferson is unlikely to play any snaps in the preseason. The coaching staff wants to be cautious with him, and he has been sitting out practice sessions ever since he sustained the injury. The 26-year-old opened up about his recovery and return to the field during Saturday's Vikings vs. Texans fixture.

The Vikings' WR, who joined the broadcast in the third quarter, revealed he is trying to make his way onto the pitch every single day.

"It's coming along. Just every single day, just working on it. Working on the strength. Working on the mobility. … I'm feeling pretty good right now. Just inching my way every single day," Jefferson said.

McCarthy's primary weapon is not in doubt for the Vikings' Week 1 clash against the Chicago Bears. Head coach Kevin O'Connell was happy to avoid anything major and confident about Jefferson's availability in the regular season.

NFL insider Darren Wolfson said earlier this week that Jefferson might not join the team in the practice sessions for the preseason games. He added that the wide receiver might return to training in the last week of August, when the team prepares for the first regular season opener.
