Waiver Wire Raid Claims Four Eagles Players After Cutdowns

The Philadelphia Eagles lost an NFL-high four players on waivers following final cutdowns. General manager Howie Roseman told reporters that it did sting losing developmental talent they hoped to bring back to the practice squad.

“Certainly didn’t want to get four guys claimed. That doesn’t feel great,” Roseman said. “You can’t sit here and feel tremendously good when you’re losing players. We’ll do our best to try to replenish that.”

Here’s a short rundown of the four players claimed by rival teams.

OT Myles Hinton (Bengals)

A sixth-round pick by Philadelphia in 2025, Hinton possesses elite physical tools, leveraging his nearly 6-foot-7 frame and long reach to establish initial contact against pass rushers. The son of seven-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Chris Hinton, he missed his rookie season on injured reserve due to a back injury.

As a fun note, Hinton holds the distinction of being one of the final projects to learn under legendary offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who is currently not employed by a team.

TE Cameron Latu (Patriots) 

Latu played 15 games for the Eagles last season, primarily used on special teams. He recorded double digit tackles and a blocked punt. On offense, he had limited use as a blocker in a hybrid tight end/fullback role.

The former third-round pick was in the running for the TE4 spot, a role made crucial by reports that rookie Eli Stowers may be a healthy scratch on game days, but was beaten out by E.J. Jenkins.

OT Cameron Williams (Falcons)

Similar to Hinton, fellow 2025 sixth-round pick Williams put together a strong training camp and preseason, but he was ultimately released due to the sheer depth in Philadelphia’s crowded room.

A shoulder injury caused Williams to miss the majority of his rookie season. He only played in the Week 18 game against the Washington Commanders where the team sat their starters.

Still, at only 22 years old, Williams possesses the physical tools and massive wingspan of a tackle who could develop into a reliable player down the road.

DB Kapena Gushiken (Colts)

Gushiken is an elite athlete who posted a 9.16 Relative Athletic Score (RAS). However, at just 5-foot-9 and under 190 pounds, concerns over his size caused him to go undrafted. He subsequently signed with the Eagles as a high-upside undrafted free agent. 

The Ole Miss product had reps working with the first team defense in training camp and had a solid preseason, recording 16 total tackles over the three games.
