Watch AJ Brown’s first catch with Patriots

All eyes were on AJ Brown on Wednesday as he made his much-anticipated debut with the New England Patriots . The Patriots visited the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field in an early rematch of last season’s Super Bowl.

Brown got his clean slate with the Patriots after his final year with the Philadelphia Eagles ended acrimoniously.

The 29-year-old wide receiver caught his first ball with the Patriots at the 3:20 mark of the first quarter, with the game still scoreless. On first and 10, he received a pass off a moving pocket from Drake Maye and ran for seven yards. It was also the first time that Maye targeted him.

Brown is expected to have a big role for the offensive unit, as he is quite familiar with the system of coach Mike Vrabel, whom the mercurial pass-catcher played for on the Tennessee Titans.

The three-time All-Pro quickly developed a bond with Maye in training camp. Before facing the Seahawks, Brown only had good things to say about the third-year quarterback.

“He’s such a great guy. He always takes the blame for every little thing. I’m like, ‘Drake, it’s OK. It’s not that deep.’ He’s incredible! Fun to play with. I can’t wait (for Week 1),” said the three-time Pro Bowler in an interview with NBC.

His numbers dipped as his role waned with the Eagles. Last season, he tallied 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. Brown is primed to be more productive with the Patriots, who are aiming to improve their passing game.

As of this writing, the Patriots are leading the Seahawks, 7-0, in the second quarter.
