The biggest storyline of the week for the Washington Commanders will be a familiar subject: injuries. The Commanders won their most impressive game of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers, and now it's time to ride that momentum into the next week.
The stage is set for a much-anticipated matchup against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, and Washington is hoping to have as many players back from injuries as possible. Getting Jayden Daniels back last week was a massive boost already, but there are three players we're still waiting for, including Terry McLaurin, who could be back soon thanks to the extra time with playing on Monday.
Many teams around the league have dealt with a load of injuries already this year, and the Commanders were one of them. The Commanders haven't had a game of being fully healthy yet, with McLaurin, Noah Brown, and Sam Cosmi all missing time so far, but they could be coming back at full force as soon as this week.
The best part about having a Monday Night Football game is that you have an extra day for rest, and it allows players the chance to return. Head coach Dan Quinn was already asked on Monday how he felt about McLaurin and the other injured players, and it sounds positive for now.
“Yeah, we're optimistic," Quinn said. "We'll have more information as the week goes on to see where they're at with him [McLaurin], Noah [Brown], Sam Cosmi, and a few other guys that are kind of trending in the right way. We'll make sure we take all the right steps. Just like we do with all the guys. . .But with having an extra day, that never hurts going into it. But as we get a few more days from now, I think I'll have a better sense of whether it's able to be done and what it looks like and how they're responding to it.”

The offense looked great against the Chargers, and Daniels has a strong connection with Deebo Samuel, while utilizing other wide receivers like Luke McCaffrey, but nothing hits harder than the deep throws from Daniels to McLaurin. They only had the first two games together to start the season, and things were a little rusty, but McLaurin coming back can take the offense to the next level. Hopefully, the extra day can help with his quad injury after he avoided surgery and having to go on IR.
HC Quinn on Terry McLaurin (quad) potentially returning in Week 6:

"We are optimistic. We'll have more information as the week goes on."
The coaching staff made many changes on the offensive line after a rough start, and we've already seen a drastic improvement, but Sam Cosmi can make it the best five players up front. The Commanders opened the 21-day window for Cosmi last week, and we could expect him back anytime as well. Monday night might be too soon for him, but he will be back by the Dallas Cowboys game if not.
We will see what updates Quinn gives on Wednesday on all of the injuries, and see who practices on the field, but he doesn't have to announce anything until Saturday or before the game, so it could be dragged out.
