WR Rashee Rice instantly turbocharged Chiefs offense against Raiders

The Kansas City Chiefs certainly missed star third-year wide receiver Rashee Rice.

After serving a six-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy, Rice returned in Week 7's game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The wideout was disciplined for his role in a multicar crash in Dallas in 2024 that left multiple people injured. In July, he pleaded guilty to two third-degree felonies.

Rice, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last season, hadn't played since September 2024. Despite the hiatus, he clearly hasn't lost a step.

Rashee Rice made an instant impact against Raiders

Rice scored on Kansas City's first drive against the Raiders, catching a two-yard pass over the middle from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. (Although the play was a jet sweep, it counted as a pass since the ball moved forward.)

Rice would score his second receiving touchdown late in the second quarter. Mahomes fired a three-yard pass to the WR, giving the Chiefs a 21-0 lead heading into halftime.

Rice finished with seven receptions for 42 yards and two TD catches, not a bad day considering it was his first game in a little over a year. Rice should continue to be a crucial piece for the Chiefs' passing attack following their 31-0 win over the Raiders.

In four games last season, the 2023 second-round pick averaged a career-high 72 receiving yards per game (288 yards). Had he maintained that average and played all 17 regular-season games, he would've finished with 1,224 receiving yards, the seventh most in the NFL. With Rice and fellow WRs Marquise "Hollywood" Brown and Xavier Worthy now healthy, that makes the 4-3 Chiefs even more potent.

According to CBS Sports, Sunday's game against the Raiders was Mahomes' first with Rice, Brown and Worthy in the lineup at the same time. The trio could help him reenter the MVP conversation. Against the Raiders, Mahomes completed a season-high 74.3 percent of his passes for 286 yards and three TDs.
