Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 0-3 is as ugly as it gets right now. However, for an NFL draft evaluator who is a fan of the Bucs, there are a lot of exciting prospects we get to look at.
Draft season will be here before you know it and right now it’s looking like there will be several holes to fill on the roster. Here are a few names that could be potential targets for the Bucs in this week five Buccaneers college watch guide.
Green is a very interesting prospect. Some people view him as a tackle, while others see him as more of a guard. Obviously the Bucs would be part of that second group if they were to be looking at Green.
At 6’5 and 325 lbs, Green has all the size you could want for either position. He has power and mobility to work with. And while he is still polishing some of the technical aspects of his game, he’s a good prospect who could become a very good starter in the NFL.
This week his Missouri Tigers are playing against number eight ranked Florida. A strong showing against a top ten opponent could help solidify him as a first round pick.
Another tackle and/or guard prospect!?!? Well maybe you haven’t noticed, but the Bucs have a need at that position. With Ben Bredeson playing very badly to start the year and Cody Mauch in the last year of his contract, this is a position that needs attention. This is just another name in a deep and talented interior offensive line class.
Siereveld is 6’5 and 327 lbs and is a proven starter at one of the five best college football programs in the country. He moves well at his size and plays with a relatively high level in terms of technique. He’s not a natural powerhouse, but he has decent physical tools to work with.
Right now I would project Siereveld as a day two pick. He’ll be playing Iowa this weekend and I expect him to look good in this game. Look for this to be a potential plus and play rookie next year.
It’s early in the process, but Brown has a chance to continue to establish himself as potentially the best linebacker in this draft class. He is both fast and physical and could be a good future replacement for Alex Anzalone who only has one more year on his contract after this one. Regardless of who the coach is, the Bucs will need a long term running mate next to Josiah Trotter.
Brown is a do it all type of guy. At 6’2 and 235 lbs he has the size to play in the box at the NFL level. He also moves well in coverage to compliment Trotter.
Clemson takes on the number four ranked Miami Huricanes this weekend. Brown won’t see a better test this year than the team that was playing for a national championship last season. I wouldn’t be shocked to learn that the Buccaneers have scouts in the building for this game.
