10 Canucks listed in Daily Faceoff’s top 300 Fantasy Hockey player ranking
? Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

It’s almost hockey season, which also means it’s almost fantasy hockey season as well. As fans prepare to draft their teams, Daily Faceoff has put out its consensus ranking of the top 300 players for NHL fantasy leagues this year. 10 Vancouver Canucks found their names on the list — let’s examine each one.

17: Quinn Hughes

To the surprise of nobody, Quinn Hughes is the highest-ranked Canuck. He’s the second-highest defenceman listed in the rankings behind only Cale Makar. For the past two seasons, Makar and Hughes have been in a class of their own compared to the rest of the league’s defencemen, and it will be interesting to see what kind of season Hughes is able to put up in 2025-26 after finishing as a finalist for the Norris last season.

74: Elias Pettersson

Do you believe in an Elias Pettersson bounce back? Year one of Pettersson’s eight-year contract with the Canucks couldn’t have gone much worse, as he put up just 45 points through 64 games played. Further, it was the first time in Pettersson’s career that he failed to reach the 20-goal mark (not including his shortened 2020-21 season). He scored 30+ goals in the years prior to 2024-25, and as a result, he’s one of the biggest boom-or-bust picks available in fantasy drafts this year.

134: Thatcher Demko

Speaking of boom or bust…

Thanks to multiple stints on IR, Thatcher Demko appeared in just 23 games last season and put up a career-low .889 save percentage. That’s certainly a disappointment, especially when he finished as the runner-up for the Vezina Trophy in 2023-24. With most leagues counting both save percentage and goals against average when cacluclating points for goalies, Demko could be a sharp under-the-radar pick since he’ll be backstopping a Canucks team that seems like it will be playing in a lot of low-scoring games this season.

141: Brock Boeser

Goals are valuable in fantasy hockey, which means that Brock Boeser is valuable in fantasy hockey. After scoring 40 goals in 2023-24, Boeser got off to a hot start to his 2024-25 campaign. But after a hit to the head from Tanner Jeannot, Boeser was forced to miss time and appeared to be a step behind upon returning. The injury, along with his most effective linemate in JT Miller being traded — not to mention an emotional trade deadline for Boeser himself — and it was a bit of a rocky campaign for Boeser. Still, he finished the year with 25 goals and signed a long term deal with the Canucks this offseason.

192: Jake DeBrusk

Jake DeBrusk led the Canucks in goals last season, and if all goes right, he’ll put up a similar total number of goals and finish third or fourth in scoring. Fantasy managers can feel good about a DeBrusk pick knowing that beyond him and Evander Kane, the Canucks don’t have a ton of top six wing options that will take ice time away from DeBrusk. He’s been a consistent 40-50 point player throughout his career, and there’s no reason to believe he won’t be that yet again in 2025-26.

193: Kiefer Sherwood

Right behind DeBrusk is Kiefer Sherwood, who had a career year in 2024-25. Not only did Sherwood set career highs in goals, assists, and total points, but he also broke the all-time NHL hits record. In leagues where hits are included in scoring, Sherwood is a no-brainer in the later rounds of the draft. Plus, he’s entering a career-year and should be extra motivated to repeat what he was able to do in 2024-25.

197: Conor Garland

Like DeBrusk, Garland is a fairly safe bet to get regular top six usage despite mostly being a third line player throughout his Canucks tenure. The Canucks made a long-term commitment to Garland this offseason, and the right-shot winger sounded very motivated when he last spoke about staying put with the Canucks.

217: Evander Kane

Evander Kane is a bit of an enigma heading into 2025-26. After missing all of the regular season last year, he appeared in 21 playoff games with the Oilers, scoring six goals and adding six assists. He should get a solid look on Elias Pettersson’s wing, and if that isn’t the case, he’s still almost surely going to be a mainstay on the Canucks’ second line. Add in the fact that he’s likely to see some time with PP1, and Kane might be a solid sleeper pick heading into drafts this fall.

248: Filip Hronek

If you forgot to draft a defenceman earlier in your draft, Filip Hronek is a great late round pick! He’ll be playing with Quinn Hughes from the start of the season and ideally benefits from that the same way he did in 2023-24 when he put up a career-high 48 points. He’s also going to see power play time, which is obviously an added bonus.

293: Kevin Lankinen

Finally, Kevin Lankinen might be a perfect stash-away pick. He was thrust into action as the Canucks’ number one guy at multiple points last season, and performed admirably. With the question marks surrounding Thatcher Demko’s ability to stay healthy, Lankinen might be a solid plan B or C for your fantasy team’s crease this year.
