Alex DeBrincat Named Second Star of the Week

The Detroit Red Wings went 2-0-1 last week as they won 6-3 over the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. They then lost in overtime to the Buffalo Sabres 5-4 in overtime on Saturday before bouncing back last night with a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers . Alex DeBrincat was named the NHL’s second star for the week after he finished with six points on five goals and an assist; three of those five goals came on the power play. DeBrincat in Thursday’s win had two goals and an assist. In Saturday’s overtime loss, he scored two goals. Last night, he scored the first goal of the game for Detroit. DeBrincat has 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists this season. He’s a minus-three with six power-play goals and a game-winning goal. The other two stars along with DeBrincat were Jason Robertson who was named first star, and the third star Quinn Hughes

The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Alex DeBrincat 39th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He played in 368 games with Chicago, recording 307 points on 160 goals and 147 assists. He was a -14 with 52 power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and 21 game-winning goals. DeBrincat was then traded to the Ottawa Senators, where, in one season in 82 games, he had 66 points on 27 goals and 39 assists. He was a -31 with 11 power-play goals and six game-winning goals. The Senators then traded him to Detroit, where in 183 games over three seasons, he had 158 points on 75 goals and 83 assists. He is a -15 with 30 power-play goals and six game-winning goals.
