The Colorado Avalanche shared important injury updates on Monday, announcing that star center Nathan MacKinnon is sick and will not practice.

MacKinnon’s status is now uncertain for Tuesday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks. He is currently on a three-game point streak, with three goals and four assists over that span. He has also recorded 13 multi-point games in 25 appearances this season.

The Avalanche posted the news on X, noting that Parker Kelly and Gabriel Landeskog will also miss practice, while Victor Olofsson is out for maintenance reasons.

"The following players will not practice today: Parker Kelly, Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon (sick) Victor Olofsson (maintenance)," the Avalanche wrote on X.

The 30-year-old is having one of the best seasons of his career. He leads the NHL with 44 points and shares the league lead in goals with 20. His production continues to drive Colorado’s offense and has been a key factor in the team’s strong start.

The Avalanche enters the week with an 18-1-6 record, sitting at the top of the Central Division. They score more than four goals per game and allow just over two, giving them one of the best goal differentials in the league. Their penalty kill remains a strength, while their power play continues to look for consistency.

Colorado’s depth will be tested if MacKinnon cannot play against Vancouver. Colorado is already short-handed at forward, so missing MacKinnon, Landeskog, and Kelly would be a major setback. The Canucks pose a strong challenge, and the Avalanche may need contributions from throughout the lineup to maintain their pace.

MacKinnon, Kelly, and Landeskog will be monitored leading up to Tuesday’s game. Colorado will hope its top scorer can recover quickly as the team continues its push in the early part of the season.
