Blues’ Adam Jecho Enters NHLPA Player’s Assistance Program

St. Louis Blues forward prospect Adam Jecho has entered the NHLPA Player’s Assistance Program, per a memo distributed by the NHLPA. Jecho will be unavailable indefinitely, likely keeping him out of all rookie camp and training camp activities. He will only return to the ice when cleared by program administrators, per the announcement. Jecho participated in St. Louis’ 2026 development camp – which was entirely off-ice and held days after the 2026 NHL Draft.

The 20-year-old forward has spent the last three seasons with the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings. He moved to Edmonton from Tampere, Finland – where he played two seasons in Finland’s junior leagues after growing up in Czechia’s youth hockey. The Zlin-native has stayed connected to his roots thanks to a starring role on Czechia’s international junior rosters. He debuted with the U17 and U18 clubs at the age of 15 and has since appeared at three Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournaments, two World U18 Championships and one World Junior Championships. He totaled five points in 10 games at the U18 Championship and seven points in seven games at the World Juniors.

Jecho is an imposing 6-foot-5, 200-pound forward with a knack for bullying opponents in the slot. He only totaled 36 points in 47 games with Edmonton last season, the lowest scoring pace of his three-year WHL career. Jecho scored 47 points in 54 games in his draft year of 2023-24, earning a third-round selection by the Blues. He then grew to 53 points in 56 games in 2024-25. Those performances came in front of a perenially-talented Oil Kings roster, though Jecho secured a reliable second-line role with his physical presence and play-driving ability.

He seemed set to test those talents at the AHL level next season, kicking off an entry-level contract originally signed in March 2025. Jecho is also eligible for one final season in the WHL, should St. Louis prefer to send him to familiar territory. Either way, it seems the start of Jecho’s 2026-27 campaign will now be delayed.
