Well, Dallas sure laid an egg. That was disappointing to watch. Speaking of viewing disappointments, we have just the recipe for tonight's Game 4 between Carolina and Florida.
The best bet for tonight is fading the goals. It's not what we prefer — and it may not make for the most enjoyable viewing experience — but our job is to deliver you the trends we notice. The most glaringly obvious trend is that goals are at premium this series, and it's best to load up the under here in Game 4 between the Hurricanes and Panthers.
Carolina is on life support, down 3-0, and while that may up the desperation, we're not so sure it leads to the goals needed to exceed tonight's set over/under.
Game 1 saw five total goals. Game 2 saw three. Game 3 had just one. That is not trending in a direction that elicits confidence in scoring tonight. Florida's Sergei Bobrovsky is as hot as can be, sporting a .978 save percentage. Bobrovsky hasn't allowed three goals since Round 1, and there's no reason to expect a shift there tonight.
For their part, the Canes have gotten solid goaltending between Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta. The pair have seen just six goals against them through three games, saving 94.2% of the pucks that come their way.
The only bet to make is the under.
Betting: Under 5.5 goals (-125 DK)
If you do need to hitch your wagon to a player, the most logical landing spot appears to be Carolina's Sebastian Aho.
Aho logged five shots on goal in Game 3, the second time this series he's gone over his 2.5 line. While they're down 3-0, we expect pride to shine a bit and the Hurricanes to get a bevy of pucks on net. Aho, the team's top-line center, feels like the most likely to keep some semblance of offense rolling.
Betting: Sebastian Aho over 2.5 SOG (-120 DK)
Celtics take a game and return home for Game 5 — Hope is not all lost just yet. Thanks to Jayson Tatum's 33 points, the Celtics took control in the third quarter and never let go en route to a 116-99 win in Miami. The series now returns to Boston, and the Celtics are 7.5-point favorites in tomorrow's Game 5. The Celtics price to win the series moved down to +225. A team has never come back from down 0-3 to win a series in NBA postseason history.
Vegas shuts out Dallas, moves one win away from Stanley Cup Final — The tone was set from the start, as Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn was ejected almost immediately, charting the course for Vegas to dominate Dallas from the jump. The Golden Knights scored three times in the first and held the Stars without a goal, winning 4-0. Dallas is still the slight favorite for Game 4, -125 to the moneyline, but we're all but certainly getting a Vegas-Florida Stanley Cup Final matchup.
Kyle Shanahan optimistic Brock Purdy will play Week 1 — After suffering an elbow injury in the NFC Championship Game, it was expected that Brock Purdy would miss a chunk of the 2023 regular season after his offseason surgery. Well, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan shared that recovery is going well, Purdy is slated to begin throwing and the optimistic expectation is that the seventh-round draft pick from last season will open the season as San Francisco's starter.
