Boston Bruins Extend Fraser Minten

This morning the Boston Bruins announced the extension of forward Fraser Minten. The extension is for seven years through the 2033-34 season and carries an AAV of $7.2 millions ($50.4 million total). Minten last season recorded career highs in points, goals and assist. He had 35 points on 17 goals and 18 assists. He was a +21 with a power-play goal and two game-winning goals. Minten was held without a point in the playoffs and finish as a minus-two in Boston’s first round series with Buffalo. The Bruins acquired Minten back on March 7, 2025 from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the trade in which Boston sent Brandon Carlo to Toronto.

Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney said

Minten made his NHL debut back on October 11, 2023, against the Canadiens. He recorded his first point on November 20, 2024, when he scored a goal against the Vegas Golden Knights. Minten played in 21 games that season 15 with Toronto and six with Boston recording five points on three goals and two assists; he was a minus-five.

The contract doesn’t kick in until next season meaning this season his cap hit will be $850,000. The contract kicks in as the salary cap increases, a great deal for the Bruins and for Minten.
