The Boston Bruins are stirring up trade buzz again, and this time, the name at the center of it is Anaheim Ducks winger Troy Terry.
The 27-year-old forward, locked into a $49 million contract that runs through 2030, has reportedly become available on the trade market.
According to league chatter, Bruins GM Don Sweeney is already doing his homework as the team looks to reshape its top six.
Terry’s resume speaks for itself: four consecutive seasons with at least 20 goals and 50 points. He brings skill, pace, and power-play value — three things the Bruins sorely lacked in the playoffs.
His $7 million annual cap hit is quickly becoming a steal as the league’s salary ceiling pushes toward $95 million. For a team trying to stay competitive while being cap-conscious, Terry fits the profile of a needle-moving acquisition.
The Ducks, stuck in a rebuild for nearly a decade, are open to change. They’re believed to be eyeing draft picks and young NHL-ready talent — and the Bruins might be able to check both boxes.
Boston holds multiple first-round picks over the next three drafts. Players like Andrew Peeke — a dependable defenseman with just one year left on his deal — could be useful sweeteners in a potential deal.
Terry is expected to draw interest from more than just Boston.
A 27-year-old in his prime, producing at a top-line clip, doesn’t hit the market often.
Unless the Ducks demand an unreasonably high return, there’s a real chance the Bruins could pull the trigger and land a legitimate scoring threat without giving up a core piece of their roster.
With the offseason heating up, Sweeney is once again in position to make a bold move. This time, it could be for a player who fits both the present and future of the Bruins’ blueprint.
Not sure what it would take but the #NHLBruins have to absolutely be in on Troy Terry.
