Will Zellers was drafted in the third round of the 2024 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche after a stellar season with Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep, in which the forward registered 111 points in 54 games. The next season, Zellers led the USHL in goals scored with 44. The Avalanche needed veteran help for the Stanley Cup playoffs last season, and included Zellers in a deal with the Boston Bruins at the trade deadline. The Bruins desperately need to replenish a barren prospect pool with higher-end talent. Zellers might be someone who has the potential to play in Boston someday.

After committing to the University of North Dakota, Zellers played in his first team scrimmage on Tuesday and collected two assists and the game’s only shootout tally for the Fighting Hawks. The 6-foot, 180-pound winger has offensive ability that makes him very noticeable on the ice. Zellers has always been a heavy point producer, and this season should display even more of his talents at the NCAA Division level.

The Bruins are excited about their new prospect, who many hockey pundits have in the top 10 in the Bruins prospect rankings. Zellers will play in the team’s only preseason exhibition game on Saturday against the University of Manitoba.
