The Edmonton Oilers revealed their newest alternate jersey for the 2025-26 season this week. This announcement came just after practice was wrapping up during Oilers Fan Day, with fans in attendance to watch the reveal.
While fans in the building reacted positively to the alternate jersey, reactions online have been mixed.

The online reactions have varied widely, which is expected. Everyone will have different opinions, and it is impossible to please everyone simultaneously. There was a section of the fanbase that was expecting a bit of a throwback. Something that would be reminiscent of the jerseys worn between 1997 and 2007.
Although a closer look at the jersey can change opinions.
“I’m clearly not an Oilers fan, not even close. But these are actually pretty nice! The captain’s patch could be a touch lower, but that’s my only actual gripe. Good job, EDM.” – rdq_33 via X
“Never mind, full kit, and backs of jerseys make this a pretty nice setup overall. Clean. Coulda done more in my eyes, but this isn’t horrible. Good pics!” – qauckenbush17 via X
Many fans were hoping to see a return to the dark blue uniforms from the 2000s with the oil rig worker on the shoulder patch. Instead, the organization went in a different direction, trying something new.
Fortunately for the fans who dislike this one, the Oilers will only wear them in select games. According to the team’s media release, they will wear the jerseys on October 28th at home vs. Utah, December 4th vs. Seattle, December 6th vs. Winnipeg, December 23rd vs. Calgary, January 12th vs. Chicago, January 13th vs. Nashville, and lastly on January 31st vs. Minnesota.
