The Boston Bruins, who were eliminated by the divisional rival Buffalo Sabres in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, have already made a handful of changes to their roster, which include the acquisition of J.J. Peterka from the Utah Mammoth, the trade of Joonas Kopisalo to the New York Rangers, and the departure of Viktor Arvidsson in free agency.

However, the Bruins are also making a considerable shakeup in their front office. The club announced multiple changes, highlighted by the hiring of former Sabres GM Kevyn Adams as senior advisor to general manager Don Sweeney. The team also confirmed that assistant GM and American Hockey League affiliate Providence Bruins GM Evan Gold will leave the organization effective Aug. 1 to pursue another NHL opportunity.

Sweeney confirmed the changes, saying he believes the added experience will serve the club well moving forward.

“As we continue to build our staff, these changes recognize the hard work and growth of people within our organization while also adding experienced voices to our group,” Sweeney said via NHL.com. “I’m confident Kevyn, Dennis, Jeremy and Alex will each play an important role as we continue to improve our team both this upcoming season and beyond. I’d also like to thank Evan for his contributions over the past several seasons. He has been a valued member of our Hockey Operations Department, and we appreciate everything he has done for our organization. We wish Evan and his family all the best as he pursues his next opportunity in the National Hockey League.”

Adams was let go in mid-December by the Sabres, who then went on an incredible run to their first playoff appearance since 2011, beating the Bruins, after winning their division for the first time since 2007.
