The Boston Bruins have reportedly agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with forward Marat Khusnutdinov.

ESPN’s Kevin Weekes was the first to break the news of Khusnutdinov extending with the Bruins on Wednesday, with Emily Kaplan subsequently confirming the terms of the deal: three years at a $3.95 million cap hit.

Khusnutdinov, 24, has two goals and five points in 10 games with the Bruins this season. The 5’10” forward had been slated to become a restricted free agent next summer at the conclusion of his current deal, which carries a $925,000 NHL cap hit; now, he’s under contract at more than four times the AAV through the end of the 2029-30 season.

Big scoop by Weeksey. Believe the Marat Khusnutdinov extension in Boston is for 3 years x $3.95 million AAV. https://t.co/WtxVCfWHjE

The Bruins originally acquired Khusnutdinov from the Minnesota Wild at the 2025 trade deadline, with the Wild receiving Justin Brazeau in exchange for Khusnutdinov, Jakub Lauko, and a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Khusnutdinov managed just five goals and 12 points in 75 games split between the Wild and Bruins in the 2024-25 season, but the Moscow product followed up his rookie year by scoring 15 goals and 33 points in 77 games with the Bruins in 2025-26. A natural center, Khusnutdinov currently occupies a middle-six wing spot in the Bruins’ forward lineup.

The Wild originally selected Khusnutdinov in the second round (No. 37 overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. After developing in the KHL with SKA St. Petersburg and HC Sochi, Khusnutdinov came to North America with the Wild organization midway through the 2023-24 season.

Khustnutdinov has spent his entire North American professional career to date in the NHL, collecting 23 goals and 54 points in 178 games over parts of four seasons split between the Wild and Bruins. He also appeared in six games with the Bruins during the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, recording no points.
