NHL analyst Jimmy Murphy has exposed the Calgary Flames for potentially trying to increase the price on what they could get in return for trading Nazem Kadri.
One of the more notable names that is reportedly being shopped by his team is Nazem Kadri of the Calgary Flames, but are the Flames attempting to drive up the price that they could command for him?
To begin with, Kadri is reportedly willing to waive his no-trade clause , and a pair of Canadian teams, the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, are said to be interested.
But per analyst Jimmy Murphy, there isn't a mutual interest on the part of the Canadiens, and the Flames could just be trying to up the price of what they could potentially receive in return.
With all due respect to Kypper, I'm told the interest is not mutual with the Habs. This sounds like the Flames trying to create the marketplace.
During a recent charity golf tournament, Kadri admitted that he's well aware of the rumors surrounding his name but that it's part of being a professional athlete.
Unless I live in a box, I think I would hear it. I've certainly heard lots of speculation, for sure. It's happened quite often over the last couple of months, so it's a little bit bizarre just scrolling around and seeing your face pop up and name pop up. Obviously, the rumour mill is pretty strong, especially around these parts. And a lot of the times, the rumours can catch some fire, and the fire turns into bigger fires. It is what it is.
Kadri had 67 points (35G, 32A) for the Flames this year, his 3rd with the team.
