Klapka got his first taste of NHL action with the Flames in the 2023–24 season after an impressive first stint with the Calgary Wranglers in the AHL, but this past year was quite different for the 6’8″ giant. Klapka made the Flames out of training camp before being sent back to the Wranglers early in the season, but he proved to be a late-season spark plug after being recalled to close out the season.
Klapka would end the year playing on the top line with Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau and was a key contributor down the stretch as the Flames pushed hard for the final playoff spot. Klapka finished this season with 10 points in 31 games but the soon-to-be 25-year-old will be pushing to play his first full season when training camp opens up in September.
The Flames still have a few RFAs to sign, those include; Morgan Frost, Connor Zary, and Kevin Bahl.
