According to a team announcement, the Montreal Canadiens have signed defenseman Bogdan Konyushkov to his entry-level contract. Montreal drafted Konyushkov with the 110th overall pick of the 2023 NHL Draft, and he’s been playing in the KHL ever since.

Shortly after, the team over at PuckPedia provided a year-by-year breakdown of Konyushkov’s two-year, entry-level contract:

Year NHL Salary Signing Bonus Perf. Bonus AHL Salary
Year 1 (TBD) $850K $102.5K $72.5K $85K
Year 2 (TBD) $967.5K $107.5K NA $85K

Konyushkov was playing for the KHL’s Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod when the Canadiens drafted him. The 6’0″, 172 lbs defenseman had a relatively good year, scoring two goals and 25 points in 64 games with a +1 rating. He followed that up with a pair of similar seasons, registering nine goals and 45 points in his next 132 games with a -14 rating.

Still, Konyushkov took a big step forward last year. Giving Montreal the confidence they needed to sign him to his entry-level contract, Konyushkov finished the 2025-26 campaign with seven goals and 38 points in 67 games with a -6 rating. He wasn’t threatening to break any scoring records in Russia, but Konyushkov finished 12th in scoring among KHL defenseman, and first among under-25 defensemen.

Despite signing his entry-level contract with the Canadiens today, he’s unlikely to feature in any games for the organization next season, although he could toward the end of the year. Konyushkov is expected to play another season with the Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod on loan and join the AHL’s Laval Rocket for the 2027-28 campaign.
