Following Sunday’s session in Penticton, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced they’ve made nine roster cuts from their preseason roster:

Forward Josh Bloom was assigned to the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL). Bloom has been a member of the Canucks organization since he was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres for Riley Stillman in February of 2023. He spent most of last season in the ECHL with the Kalamazoo Wings, where he scored 20 goals and 39 points in 43 games. The 22-year-old added an assist in two games in Abbotsford, a place he hopes to earn a regular roster spot this season.

Forwards Jackson Kunz, Cooper Walker and Dino Kambeitz were released from their professional tryout contract and will report to Abbotsford. After spending four years at the University of North Dakota, Kunz appeared in one game in Abbotsford last season, picking up an assist. Walker played 34 games in the AHL, scoring five goals and 10 points with the Abby Canucks. Kambeitz was more of an AHL regular in Abbotsford, picking up 10 goals and 14 points in 52 games.

Prospects Gabriel Chiarot, Riley Patterson, Kieren Dervin and Aleksei Medvedev will report to their respective junior teams, while amaetur tryout defenceman Zack Sandhu will also report to his junior team. Chiarot, Patterson, Dervin and Medvedev were all 2025 Canucks draft selections, and were expected to re-join their teams in the OHL. Sandhu is not a Canucks affiliated prospect, but he will also head back to the OHL, patrolling the Oshawa Generals blueline.

During this weekend’s training camp, Patterson skated in Group A, Medvedev skated in Group B, while the other seven skaters were members of Group C. Two players were in Group C that remain with the Canucks: Anri Ravinskis and Aku Koskenvuo – Ty Mueller and Guillaume Brisebois were also Group C, but did not participate in the sessions due to injuries.

More roster cuts are expected to come as the preseason progresses, until the Canucks’ season opener on October 9, 2025 against the Calgary Flames.
