The Washington Capitals are the first team to announce a jersey ad deal for the 2022-23 season, agreeing to a multi-year contract with Caesars Sportsbook.
Beginning in 2022-23, the Capitals' home and third jerseys for games played at Capital One Arena will include the Caesars logo.

The jersey patch is 3-by-3 1/2-inches in size, according to The Athletic's Sean Shapiro. Washington's road jerseys will include an ad from a different sponsor, which the team is finalizing, per Shapiro.
It was reported in August that NHL teams would begin placing ads on their jerseys starting with the 2022-23 season. The league allowed helmet ads during the 2020-21 season as a way for teams to recoup money lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The helmet ads will remain for the 2021-22 season.
In addition to the NHL, the NBA and MLS also allowed jersey sponsors. The NBA began selling ad space on jerseys during the 2017-18 season and the MLS started doing so in 2007.
