The defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes will return their best goal-scorer from the past two years tomorrow night. According to a team announcement, the Hurricanes activated forward Seth Jarvis from the injured reserve.
Jarvis, 24, underwent shoulder surgery in late June, shortly after Carolina lifted its second Stanley Cup in franchise history. Originally, Jarvis was given a recovery timeline of four to six months. Returning tomorrow, Jarvis will have missed approximately three months and three weeks.
Although he’ll need time to regain his form, Jarvis’ return is a big boost for a team dead-set on repeating as champions this season. Even without one of their top offensive talents, the Hurricanes have earned an 8-2-1 record through their first 11 contests of the 2026-27 campaign.
The former 13th overall pick blossomed into the player he is today nearly four years ago. Since the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign, Jarvis has scored 97 goals and 200 points in 225 games with a +41 rating, averaging nearly 19 minutes of ice time per game. He has also regularly received votes for the Selke Trophy and is uncommonly physical for a first-line winger.
In last year’s postseason, Carolina was mostly driven by their electric line of Jackson Blake, Logan Stankoven, and Taylor Hall, who scored 25 goals and 55 points in 57 games combined. However, Jarvis contributed plenty, scoring four goals and 11 points in 19 games, including the overtime-winning goal in Game 2 against the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have also called up Skyler Brind’Amour from the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, sending Bradly Nadeau the other way. The son of head coach Rod Brind’Amour, Skyler has scored two goals and three points in six AHL contests this season, and will give Carolina another option at center. Nadeau registered two assists in his three-game call-up.
